Beans For Dreams
Beyond our direct partnerships with coffee producer groups, we work with SchoolBOX by “making education possible” for thousands of children in Central America. Ten cents of every pound of coffee that Equator sells is donated directly to SchoolBOX.
In addition to the per-pound contribution, we also run a fundraising program with our coffee in which $5 of every bag purchased provides school supplies for one child for an entire year. Look for the “Beans For Dreams” label or shop online.
Supporting community and education at home and abroad is paramount to our company’s mission! Our partnership with SchoolBOX helps make this possible.
In 2013, a team of staff and customers travelled to Nicaragua to build a school In Tipitapa and inaugurate the first Equator School in San Antonio near Jalapa, a coffee community in Northern Nicaragua. Check out the blog about our team's amazing SchoolBOX adventure here.
In 2016, we took a second team down to build another classroom for the Gracias a Dios School in the coffee growing region of San Juan del Rio Coco. Highlights from this trip coming soon.
Equator’s work with SchoolBOX and other charities led to our receiving the Best Ottawa Business Award for Performance in Philanthropy in November 2016. We are very grateful for the recognition of something that we believe so strongly in as a company. More on that honour here.
